Whip up Smoky Chipotle & Bourbon Tofu Bites featuring a bold triple-pairing from Olive Oil Divine. This recipe cooks up quickly on the stove, using a flavorful bourbon vinegar and a savory garlic oil to create a dark, crispy, smoky bark on the tofu that pairs beautifully with fresh, crunchy toppings.
Ingredients
• 1 block (14 oz) extra-firm tofu
• 2 tablespoons Olive Oil Divine Garlic Fused Olive Oil (plus a tiny bit extra for garnish)
• 1.5 tablespoons Olive Oil Divine Bourbon Aged White Balsamic Vinegar
• 2 tablespoons Olive Oil Divine Applewood Chipotle Rub
• 1 fresh jalapeño, sliced into thin rounds
• 2 green onions (scallions), thinly sliced
• 1/2 bell pepper (red or orange), thinly sliced
• Optional base: 1 cup cooked rice
Steps
1. Press the tofu by wrapping the block in paper towels and placing a heavy skillet on top for 10 minutes to squeeze out excess water.
2. Cut the tofu into bite-sized 1-inch cubes and pat them completely dry with a paper towel.
3. Toss the tofu cubes in a medium bowl with the Olive Oil Divine Bourbon Aged White Balsamic Vinegar until they are evenly coated.
4. Sprinkle the Olive Oil Divine Applewood Chipotle Rub over the cubes, tossing gently until every side of each cube is thoroughly coated in the spices.
5. Heat a heavy skillet over medium heat and pour the Olive Oil Divine Garlic Fused Olive Oil into the pan.
6. Pan-sear the tofu bites for about 8 to 10 minutes, turning them occasionally so that all sides develop a dark, crispy, smoky bark.
7. Scoop the cooked rice into your bowl if using, pile the hot tofu bites on top, and garnish generously with the fresh jalapeño, green onions, and bell pepper slices. Drizzle a tiny splash of the garlic oil over the fresh veggies right before eating.
