Fried Buttermilk Chicken

Serves 3-4


  • 6-10 pieces of bone-in chicken (wings, thighs, drumsticks, etc.)
  • 2-2 1/2 cups of flour
  • 3 tbsp (and a pinch more) of Olive Oil Divine's Flippin' the Bird seasoning for a sweeter result or Austin Steakhouse Rub for a black pepper kick
  • 2 cups of whole buttermilk 


Mix 2 tbsp of your chosen seasoning into the buttermilk. Place chicken into a container with the buttermilk mixture to marinate overnight.

Mix 1 tbsp of the seasoning with the flour. Dredge the chicken through this dry mixture.

Follow all deep frying safety guidelines. Fry the chicken at 350 degrees Fahrenheit until the internal temperature is at least 165 degrees Fahrenheit.

Remove the chicken from the oil and let stand for 10 minutes, sprinkling with a little bit more seasoning for flavor and garnish.

Pair with homemade mashed potatoes, coleslaw, mac'n'cheese or any other hearty side for a great meal to take on a picnic!
