Kitchen Hero Tip: Prep Ahead for a Stress-Free Thanksgiving

Thanksgiving is one of the busiest days of the year in the kitchen. Between preparing the turkey, making side dishes, setting the table and welcoming guests, it's easy to feel like there's more to do than time to do it. Every Kitchen Hero knows that a little preparation can make a big difference!

Get a Head Start on Thanksgiving

You don't have to prepare everything on Thanksgiving morning. There are plenty of small tasks you can tackle a day or two ahead to make the holiday more enjoyable.

  • Chop your vegetables. Wash, peel and chop vegetables for your favorite side dishes. Store them in airtight containers in the refrigerator until you're ready to cook.
  • Measure your ingredients. Gather and measure spices, oils and other ingredients for recipes you'll be preparing. Keep refrigerated ingredients chilled until needed.
  • Prepare sauces and dressings. Many salad dressings, vinaigrettes and sauces can be made ahead of time. Store them properly in the refrigerator and give them a good stir before serving.
  • Get your serving dishes ready. Pull out platters, bowls and serving utensils the night before so you're not searching for them while everything is cooking.

The Sticky Note Trick

Here's one of our favorite Thanksgiving kitchen tips! The night before Thanksgiving, set out all your serving dishes and place a sticky note on each one with the name of the food it will hold.

Mashed potatoes? Label the bowl. Roasted vegetables? Label the platter. Cranberry sauce? Give it a spot, too!

This simple trick helps you stay organized and makes it easy for family members or friends to lend a hand when it's time to serve.

A Little Less Stress, A Lot More Gratitude

Thanksgiving isn't about everything being perfect. It's about gathering with the people you love, sharing a delicious meal and taking time to appreciate life's blessings.

A little planning means less scrambling in the kitchen and more time enjoying the moments that matter.

That's what being a Kitchen Hero is all about!
